Our Mission

The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Scout Oath

On my honor I will do my best, To do my duty to God and my country, and to obey the
Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law
A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

About Us

PNG Troop 51 follows the principles of a “Scout-run troop” where Scouts, through their elected leadership, plan and execute the meetings, activities and outings.

The Scouts make decisions regarding outing locations, outing activities,
meal planning, and preparation of Troop meetings, meeting skills,
activities, and games. The Scouts are encouraged to lead the Troop with
minimal guidance. Our Troop attends Summer Camp, Camporee, and
High Adventure outings such as Philmont Scout Ranch.

The adult leaders act as an ever present resource to help, advise and support them in achieving their goals, which they have indicated are:

  • Make sure that Scouts have fun and learn at the same time.
  • Keep scouts interested in advancement and stay involved in Scouting.
  • Guide Scouts in planning the troop program.
  • Provide leadership training and developmental opportunities for scouts.

For more than 100 years Scouting programs have instilled in youth the values found in the Scout Oath and Law. Today, these values are just as relevant in helping youth grow to their full potential as they were in 1910. Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership, and the citizenship skills that will influence their adult lives. Scouting is for young men and women and helps meet these six essential needs of the young people in our society.
